Week 1
Reading Assignment: Watch Trevor Noah’s African American 
Narrative Essay: Complete 3-page Narrative Essay
Blog/discussion question: when was your racial puberty, what happened, and how do you feel about your racial indoctrination in hindsight? Write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.

Week 2
Reading Assignments: Read the first two chapters of Riot Baby 
NARRATION ESSAY DUE Friday 9-2-22 by 11:59 pm in the Blackboard Collaborate Assignment Dropbox.
Blog/Discussion Question: Discuss a time or moment in your life when you were in a racially intense experience, explain how you navigated that space, and explain why you chose to navigate that space in the manner you did. Write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.
Week 3
Reading Assignments: Read chapter 3 of Riot Baby.
Blog/discussion question: Critique Chapter 1 or 2 of Riot Baby through a social justice lens. In other words, choose a theme or point of analysis that appears in chapter 1 or 2, and use that theme or point of analysis to discuss how and why Anyebuchi addresses contemporary, American injustice. Write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.

In other words, choose a theme or point of analysis that appears in chapter 3, and use that theme or point of analysis to discuss how and why Anyebuchi addresses the carceral continuum. Week 8
Reading assignments: Finish reading Pet.
Argument PAPER DUE Friday 10-14-22 by 11:59 pm in the Blackboard Collaborate Assignment Dropbox 

Blog/Discussion Question: How does the allegorical theme of redemption manifest in Pet, and why is it or is it not warranted? Write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.
Week 9
Reading assignment: Read the first 15 pages of E.P. Thompson’s, “Time, Work, Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism.” 

YOU HAVE TWO POSTS/QUESTIONS THIS WEEK. Blog/Discussion Question: 1, According to E.P. Thompson, what is time, how is it used/operationalized, and how does this work – if at all — affect how you understand time? Write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.
Blog/Discussion Question 2, write your introduction to your research paper. In other words, frame your research topic and include an effective thesis statement or research question. Write at least a 250-word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions.
Week 10

Week 11
YOU HAVE TWO POSTS/QUESTIONS THIS WEEK. Blog/Discussion Question: 1, Discuss what critical lens you chose to conduct your research through, and discuss why you chose that lens. In other words, explain how your chosen lens impacted your research and paper; Post your Blog response on Padlet and write a 100 – 350 word response to the question to be submitted in Blackboard under Discussion Questions Blog/Discussion Question: 2, discuss how you will use your database article in your research paper. In other words, explain how the work will deepen your research and help you produce both a substantive and academic paper. Week 12

Week 13
This is a student support week where students are provided time to make up any work that may still be due in this or any other class. Students do not have to formally attend class this week. However, I will be in the classroom on Monday to provide in-person support.
Week 14
Class review for the Final exam.
Week 15
Final exam RESEARCH PAPERS THAT REQUIRED
